Gridfinity Base
Gridfinity Base turns any plate you have into a Gridfinity baseplate. Drop it on the top face, set how many cells you want in X and Y, and it cuts that many standard foot sockets on the 42 mm grid, centred on the face. That is all it does — no magnet pockets, no screw holes, no counterbores — which is exactly the point: it is a socket cutter you can apply to a drawer insert, a shelf, a toolbox lid or a custom tray you designed yourself, rather than a baseplate you have to design around. The sockets are the standard three-chamfer foot inverted: a 37.2 mm rounded-square bore 4.75 mm deep, with the mouth chamfered out to 41.5 mm by a 2.15 mm 45-degree chamfer. A real bin's own top chamfer mates that mouth, so it self-centres as it drops in. It is the exact inverse of the Gridfinity Container foot, and any bin printed to the public standard plugs straight into it. Every socket is drawn in one sketch and cut in a single pass, and all the mouths are chamfered together, so the cost is the same whether you ask for one cell or thirty-six and the whole grid stays a single editable step in your timeline. Print with the sockets facing up: the 2.15 mm chamfer is a self-supporting 45 degrees, so the openings need no support. Leave at least about 6 mm of material under the picked face — anything thinner than the 4.75 mm socket depth will break through and leave you with holes instead of pockets.
